The 170 is my 5th Glarry Guitar I have the GIB 4 string Bass, The GTL Maple Fretboard, The GST-E Lightning Style and a Burning Fire, All are good well Built with nice finishes. They all have a great sound to them. However, my new 170 has a problem with the neck. The distance from the Big E string to the end of the fret is almost nonexistent and when I play bar cords the E string will try to roll of the fretboard. I don't think this is something I can Fix, other than replace the Neck. It has a go ...

There are two large (3inch) areas on the neck that are rough and unsanded. There is a loose or poorly attached wire because there is a loud buzz when the bass is plugged in. The initial tune went ok. The neck was 1/2 a turn out of alignment. The bridge adjustment screws have a very thick thread, so setting string height is not perfect. The pickups are not able to be set for height without shims. Guitar looks nice. However, it's not very playable. The nut is way too high. Very hard to do a full F chord on it. I can fix that by removing the nut, sanding it down and regluing it. May have to sand the bridge down a bit. action may be high as well. Also, the built-in pickup is not very good. The high E and the low E strings are loud. The other 4 strings are not that loud when plugged into an amp. Guitar was poorly strung. At times when I tune it, I hear strings slipping at the brid ...

I only gave it 3 stars because im confident that what I've experienced isn't the norm, but i gotta bring this up. I bought this guitar on sale as an early Christmas gift last year. Aside from various cosmetic issues like scratches from sandpaper and a chip near the neck joint i had high hopes for it as a cheap backup.
