Glarry GIB VI 6 String Bass The Bass looks Awesome! Slightly disappointed that this Bass did not have the upgrades that the GIZ had. NO padded gig bag with Glarry logo, or the nice heavy metal ended instrument cable, instead we're back to the unpadded gig bag and .99 cent Radio Shack cable. Glarry, You should include the upgraded bag and cable for all your guitars, even if it raises the price $15-20, it's worth it. The VI played OK right out of the box but will benefit greatly from a basic setup ... Glarry GIB VI 6 String Bass The Bass looks Awesome! The VI played OK right out of the box but will benefit greatly from a basic setup. The neck needed minor adjustment to the truss rods, yes, I said rods, there are two, after the Bass climatized to my local environment. The string action was a little high at both the nut and bridge, and I found it needed a neck shim. The shim ( sliver of a business card) and setting the action it took about 10 minutes to adjust to my taste. Intonation was near spot on, and again took 10 minutes to set. I needed to adjust the pickup height to raise them for better response. and found that the pickup cavities were a bit of a tight fit, adding 1-2mm to the size of the route in the CNC program would solve this issue on future runs. I decided to add shielding to the electronics cavity to stop some noise I was getting from my lighting. For purely cosmetic reasons, I switched out the hardware for black. The bridge is exactly the same model, and the tuners and knobs are also the same type, just in black. The Neon green strings, well, that's my way of adding bling! But they sound good too! After setup, the GIB VI plays and sounds great, is well balanced, not super heavy, and a great choice for someone wanting to try a 6 string bass. Note: The GIB VI does not fit the Glarry rectangle Bass Case unless you detune the upper tuners inline with the headstock, as the case is not deep enough. Glarry's other Bass case is deeper, but I haven't tried one to see if it fits. The Fender gig bag I mentioned in an earlier post doesn't quite fit either, the VI is a bit too wide at the upper horn, but the Gator bag I bought for my V fits the VI perfectly!

Case is worth the price BUT... as you can see by the pics, it has turned the nut, back of neck and fretboard maroon. Bought your thinline tele to do a hot rod build which took several weeks and now it is stained from the dye in the case.

Can I give this more than 5 stars? Mine just arrived today and it is fantastic! Beautiful flawless finish and well set up. Great sound although I'm going to add more foam or some springs under the pickups to raise them closer to the strings. That's about the only negative thing I have to say. In a couple of days I'll put on new strings, oil the fretboard, and make any necessary adjustments as I do on all my new instruments. Quite a good value for the price. I copper tape insulated the control cavity and pickup wells to tame the buzzing. Worked very well. I tightened the truss rod, shimmed the neck and it intonated just fine. I played this with a fairly loud drummer through a Rumble 40 for an amped acoustic trio. I got this as a 2nd electric guitar and it's awesome for a beginner or someone who wants to play around. 4 out of 5 because of a free ring on the G string around 10 and 12. Also feel the volume is lower than it should be but still with a good amp the volume is no issue.

So 4 out of 5. My reason is because I had to adjust the neck and bridge to eliminate some ringing on a couple frets including 1sr fret F and low C. Other than that for the price, quality, sound, packaging, body and all is good. This also is good if you are wanting to try a 5 string bass without breaking the bank. Its not for everyone but yes I would buy this again. Considering the 5 string jazz down the road.

Guitar arrived just fine in standard shipping box. No damage. Glarry uses really cheesy film to protect the pick guard and it is hard to pick off all the nooks and crannies. Pick guard themselves are garbage: They are made of a super soft plastic than can be gouged with just a fingernail. Finish was fine. I did not detect any cosmetic issues. This is the 2nd of two pieces that I purchased from Glarry!!! I do admit that I had experienced a lil' "faux pas" with the neck concerning "dead spots" where notes couldn't be produced while playing, but its nothing that an allen wrench/truss rod adjustment couldn't handle!! LOL!!!! And I gave it a lil "facelift" if you will, because that "gold" pickguard blended so beautifully with that hue of the wood finish on the guitar.......Overall THIS ONE WHUPS @$$!!!!!!!!! It is pretty well made. Out of the box: neck is straight, intonation pretty close. No loose nuts on volume and tone controls. No sharp frets. Input jack is solid. Bass is very lightweight. Balanced when playing with strap. Minor issues: all esthetic/looks. Half of the pick guard screws were screwed in crooked, not fixable without using bigger screws. So I am happy with my purchase of this Bass, it does have some issues. It does however look good, have playabilty (reasonable string height) and it works when plugged it. Now for the cons:1) The neck has an indentation on the treble side around the 11th - 12 fret but, doesn't effect the sound or playabilty2) There is a tiny gauge in the pic guard which I could care less about3) It has GLarry on the head stock. also I bought a set of black tuners and the top peg snapped off of one.

I purchased the space somewhere around the beginning of covid not one or two months later the top piece that holds the strings on the base snapped I tried for months to get a hold of garry unsuccessfully. Update 7/18/2022 I was contacted by Glarry and initially requested a replacement for the broken tuner, Glarry instead offered a $10.00 refund so I could replace the tuner. I replied that I would prefer they send a new tuner so it would match the existing tuners. For reasons unknown to me Glarry did not want to send a tuner so I found a set of tuners on Amazon for $20.00 so Glarry refunded that amount.
