I'm a first-time cellist, so my appraisals are simplistic. But I found that all dimensions were spot on with professional specs except for the bridge height. I carefully made height measurements and sanded down the bridge top to the proper height. In time I plan to replace the strings with better quality ones, but the stock strings will get me through the fundamentals of playing. Bottom line - I believe this very price-friendly cello will satisfy most any beginner or intermediate cello lover ...

The instrument arrived on time—faster than expected. My kiddo is a first-time player, and his teacher approved this purchase, noting that it's good quality. So far, it's been great! I bought this for one of my students who's just starting out. The sound is warm, and the spruce top looks beautiful in person. It needed some tuning out of the box, but once set up, it played well for the price.

Beautiful in looks and sound! I have never set up or played a new cello and haven't played in 49 years. The setup was quick and easy and it takes a few days for the instrument and strings ti adjust and stretch. Fantastic experience!!

Got this cello for my wife for Christmas, and she loves it. It sounds good for a starter cello, and looks good as well. Black Friday deal and we received incredible value for our money. I had a local shop set it up properly for $40. Very happy with the purchase and would definitely recommend as a starter cello.

While my granddaughter's cello was on back order and wasn't received in time for Christmas, Glarry stayed in constant contact with me to follow up on my order. It stays in tune and sounds decent for a cheap instrument. I ordered a better bow before I even received the cello since I had read so many reviews about cheap cellos coming with unusable bows. I was surprised when this arrived the the bow wasn't warped or twisted. The wooden bow it came with is usable. Not as well balanced as the carbon fiber bow I bought but still something you could start learning with. The bridge isn't perfect but it is pretty close to fitting the instrument. It would only need a small adjustment from a luthier. I am using it just how it is and don't have a huge complaints. The string height is correct. I was also happy with the shipping. I think it took about a week but I live in Maine and this shipped from California. There were a couple dings on the box but zero damage to the instrument. Not even a scratch. This is the cello I will suggest in the future to people that want something cheap to learn with.

I briefly owned a cheap cello, bought from one of the major online sellers and it was so bad I ended up donating it to a thrift store, so I was reluctant to buy another cheap priced cello, but after watching a professional cellist playing and reviewing a Glarry cello online I decided to give the GC201 cello a try; it arrived today, in perfect condition and I'm very happy with it; it's very well made, it plays well and only a minor bridge adjustment will be needed, for me; it's very good overall ...

All in all I'm quite content with it, no tuning issues, the strings took tune without snapping on me which has happened a few times with economically priced instruments in the past, I'm happy with the general look and feel of the instrument and I'm confident with adjustments I should be quite happy with it. I do feel like I'm going to need to make a few adjustments, the bridge primarily as it seems a little high and I'll need to shorten it if I want to have an action length of 68-69cm from nut to bridge as the 70.5cm length this instrument seems to be set up to take based on the position of the soundboard and height of the strings off of the end of the fingerboard, it results in a larger distance between notes which is a bit less comfortable than the shorter action length. I'm hoping not to have to adjust the soundpost as it was placed but I get the feeling it might be necessary to do so in addition having to modify the height of the bridge. Glarry does recommend taking the instrument to a luthier for final adjustment in the little manual it comes with so I'll credit them for that, but for people who like to do everything themselves I do want to mention that some adjustments like above might be necessary to get the best playability. All in all though, I'm optimistic that baring some big issue with making the little changes I plan to it should be a solid instrument and I'm quite happy with it so far.
