Simply put, this is a great bass! I have played, bought, sold, and traded many basses from many different brands and, by just about any criteria, this bass is solid! Out of the box, the instrument looked fantastic and was pretty decently set up. After tuning and playing a bit, a few minor adjustments were all that were needed to really make this bass play well! Plugged in, it sounds really great. The pickups provide a nice beefy tone with just enough punch to cut through the mix. The tuners are a little stiff, but should loosen up with a little use. After a couple of days, I did replace the strings with my favorite Rotosounds, and oiled the fretboard. I also replaced the bridge with a Wilkinson bridge I had gotten but never used. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the stock bridge, but the new one has slightly wider spacing (19mm string spacing) and aligned the strings better with the poles in the pickups. I added str a p looks and a new strap, and I've been happily playing my new toy ever since!
This is the 8th Glarry bass that I've bought. I've traded or sold most of the g e others to students, etc, but this one I'm going to keep! It matches up with a 5string J-bass that I have (not a Glarry) and plays and sounds on par with it. If you are thinking about a 5 string, I really recommend checking this one out! It really is that good!!
