I purchased a GTL transparent yellow Telecaster a few months ago. I've also bought 2 of their GST Stratocasters in the past. I consider myself an advanced beginner who's owned a few inexpensive electric guitars, but also owns a Gibson Les Paul. My comments below go into some detail on the issues I faced, modifications I made, and results obtained. My GTL arrived in excellent physical condition with no dings or other defects regarding its appearance. As with all of the Glarry guitars I've purchased, the neck and fretwork were excellent with no buzzing. It's a thick neck, but seems to work for me. The nut was cut properly, unlike one of the GST Stratocasters I bought that was cut too high. The intonation was way off and needed adjustment. The saddle screws were too long but didn't affect playability. More concerning was that the bridge was tilted to one side and that the bridge pickup emitted a loud hum. I was initially ready to return the guitar, but Glarry suggested realigning the bridge and offered a $12 refund on the original $89 price. I removed the bridge to also look at the pickup, and noticed that the ground wire had come loose from its soldered joint. I re-soldered the wire and was also able to align the bridge. The humming disappeared and the pickups overall seem quiet to my ears. Although I'm not overly familiar with the Telecaster sound, I liked the bridge pickup and it's cutting presence. The neck pickup was a different story, however, as it produced a muffled, dead sound. I tried to adjust the pickup's height, but nothing helped. (I was hoping that it would sound somewhat like the GTS Stratocaster neck pickup.) I read that these pickups sometime benefited from taking the cover off, so I went in that direction. After removing the pick-guard and heating the cover with a hair dryer, I was able to easily pry the cover off. There were two large pieces of a wax-like substance that held the cover approximately 1/16" from the pickups poles. I kept the cover off and reattached the pick-guard. The result--an amazing improvement in the sound!! The pickup came alive and now worked nicely to complement the bridge pickup. I'm not sure if there was too much of the wax substance holding the cover away from the pickup, but anyone experiencing the same issue might want to try removing the cover. With that success and my growing affection for this guitar, I decided to invest in a set of new Gotoh SG381 chrome inline machine heads (approx $36 online). These were a perfect fit for the existing tuners, requiring no modification of the headstock. They had less slack and appear to keep the guitar in tune much better. I'm very pleased with this change. I also replaced the chrome saddles with Wilkinson brass ones (approx $17) in hopes that they might further improve the guitar's intonation. They helped a bit, but a couple of the strings are still not intonated perfectly. Not sure if this change was worth it, but the brass does look cool with the body's transparent yellow color! Lastly, I installed a set of Ernie Ball Pure Nickel strings (9-42). So with these relatively simple modifications and fixes I now have what I believe is a very good Telecaster clone that both plays well and sounds good.

Overall, I was very pleased with receiving my glarry guitar. It feels good to play, however, the string spacing is a little off. There's also a gap in the neck joint and a what looks like a crack in the body, near the neck. I'm concerned that the neck will break off from the body sooner rather than later. Unfortunate.

The guitar came quickly but with no proction in the guitar box, and actually had a tear in the box. No outside box for extra protection, against the elements or thieves since the guitar box was very clearly marked GLARRY GUITAR. Neck was way bent which luckily the truss rod took care of. Everything else is more or less "normal" issues. Intonation needed to be set. The strings were out of tune when arrived, but nothing new. The frets are surprisingly smooth and it is a beautiful guitar after a se ...

Very happy with this guitar. Plays extremely well with just a few adjustments. I bought a set of D'Addario string to put on it, but I haven't even done that yet. Will probably replace the nut when I change strings but other than that I can't see doing anything else to it. Hold tune well, pickups sound good, nice job Glarry! Very happy

I saw videos on YouTube that gave pretty good ratings on this guitar. Have to admit, I bought it to convert to an Esquire. Neck was perfect as well as the finish. There was some wood finishing irregularities, but,for the price, who cares. Had to rout for aftermarket pickup. Rewired it. Worked out great. Sounds and plays great.

Shipped quickly and came without any cracks or scuffs. The neck was smooth and had no burrs or lumps. I plan on doing some upgrades to make this a beast, overall it was a great purchase and I would definitely recommend this website to others looking to get into playing guitar or to someone curious about fixing or modding guitars in general.

With proper set up it's perfect to get youngsters starting out. Love the finish and feel of the neck is amazing for the price this is an awesome guitar! I would love to see a Les Paul style. Fingers crossed we will see one soon.

For the price, this is a super value. Beautiful job on the body color. Mine arrived in perfect condition - no damage during shipment. All I did to make this guitar a little nicer was add a good set of strings, set the action and intonation (neck relief was fine). The other thing I did was go over the neck with 3000 grit sandpaper. I tinker with guitars. I bought this because I wanted a telly and didn't want to pay big F's prices. Very pleasently surprised. The body is one piece of wood.(wow!) The finish is as good as any I've seen in the local music store. Not a blemish I could find and the neck I as smooth as a baby's behind. Fret edges are smooth, not a single rough edge. (Well I didn't check the 14th and 15 the frets cause I never go there. Lol.) The hardware is inexpensive "Chinese" stuff but I didn't expect anything ...

Is it serviceable, yes is it great, no. I couldn't get the intonation correct passed the 11th fret but that's not unusual for an inexpensive guitar. I'm a professional musician and producer of over 15 years, and am very satisfied with this guitar. It does exactly what I bought it for. That being said, I should be clear about what this means. This guitar is cheaply built, and corners were most definitely cut, making this instrument inconsistent and sometimes unpredictable. A professional guitar player may not want this for something conventional. All that being said I still 1000% love this guitar and here's why. If you are musically adventuro ...

If you are musically adventurous, and prepared to lean into the idea that imperfect instruments have a ton of value when you approach them on their terms, you will love this. Personally, I see a lot of potential for unique timbres, tones and sound design tricks. I realize this is a philosophical point, but really, it's cheap,so it's low risk, and for the experimentalist in you, it's worth the purchase.

For the price, it's hard to beat. This is obviously not a high-end product. But if you are a beginner, or just want to try playing, this is a good product on which to start. The action will need some adjusting, and there may be some minor imperfections, here and there. Overall though, it is solidly build, and very playable. For what it is, it's hard to not not rate high.

I'm 34 and I've been playing guitar since high school and I've owned several guitars. I bought this guitar as a project guitar and also to try out the telecaster style guitar. Overall I really like this guitar and I enjoy playing it after making some improvements. Likes: Good price. I found the neck to be very comfortable with no fret-sprout and no obvious high frets. As my first maple fretboard, I found it pleasingly bright sounding. The saddles and truss rod work properly and were easy to adjust. Same for pickups. The body looks great just like the pictures. Shipping happened next day and took about 1 week to arrive in Southern California. What you miss out on due to low price: Minor shipping damage, it ships in a flimsy cardboard box with minimal padding. Mine had a dent in the headstock and the pickup selector and volume knob were slightly bent but still functional. The guitar's neck has uneven sanding, but mostly good. The frets could use polishing. Needed setup especially intonation out of the box. Some of the tuning pegs were loose, as was the output jack. Hairline fractures on the body where the neck sits. Some tuning pegs grind and require a careful touch. Dislikes: Some of the tuning pegs have sharp metal bits around the holes. I was able to scrape some of this off. The saddle also has some sharp metal bits on the low and high e string holes. The high e string hole in saddle has a string sized notch at the top (see photo). The original small e string broke in a day near the saddle, I'm guessing it's related. Upgrades I installed: Brass Gotoh compensated saddles for spot-on intonation, big improvement! TUSQ nut and string trees for stable tuning. All together about $50. Some details not on the store page: Fretboard radius was 14-15 in my rough measurement. Tuning pegs appear to have 10mm holes. Nut is approximately 41 x 3 x 5 x 35 (length, width, height, e to e) all in mm. Allen wrenches for truss rod and saddles are included.
