You get what you pay for. Please keep in mind that instruments like these should be taken to get set up professionally. This will cost roughly $100 more. The distance of the strings from the heel should be roughly 5 mm from the low string and 3mm from the high string. This instrument came with dimensions twice as high making it unhealthy to play. The repair man will most likely need to sand down the bridge and the nut. Also, you will need peg paste to keep the instrument in tune. New strings , better rosin and a better bow will make this instrument worth the investment (about $100 more for all three). My personal budget friendly suggestions: D'Addario strings and rosin, fiddlerman carbon fiber bow ($77). With all that being said, this instrument will do fine for a beginner who does not wish to rent a $2000 instrument at $50 a month from their local music shop.
