I'm a newbie!!! Still not sure how to tune it. Couldn't get a sound from the string after applying the rosin to the bow. Seems like a nice beginner violin though, lol! Looks great too! I'm sure once I do some more research and attempt to FIDDLE (pun intended) with it more my daughter and I will love it.

The rosin was broken and made a mess when I opened it. The body of the violin is a beautifully antiqued matt natural. Overall, not bad.

After some set up, toning and applying rosin to the bow, I found it's actually playable and it delivers powerful sound. The tone is relatively brighter, when comparing to my old mellow-toned violin. Although the details of the craftmanship is not the greatest, it's still a playable violin, decent enough for a student/beginner. To me, as an intermediate amateur player, I can play it for fun with some songs need brighter tones. So, I will keep this violin.

Arrived well except the rosin was shattered so I'll have to buy some locally. Very nice that it came with tuner and extra strings. Turning peg is a lil loose so I had to really push it in to hold string in place. All in all worth the price to me.

Looks nice but rosin is all crushed, hair now has bunch of hair broken. But it would be an excellent violin for a beginner or a parent who wants their child to experiment before committing to a more expensive instrument.

I wanted to learn to play, thought this look like a good setup for an adult beginner. really surprised with the quality. only 1 things I'm not crazy about, the rosin difficult to work with. I'm happy with it, now just have to learn to make it sound better (it's me not the violin......grin)

The pegs do move easily, so be sure to push them in before tuning. As the violin gets used to your environment, the pegs will slip less and less. Overall, I like it.

Violin itself is very nice. I'm not very familiar with the instrument and what should be the normal. The only thing that I thought was off was the hair on the bow was pretty loose. My daughter is 12 and loves this product. She has not played an instrument before so this is a great beginners product.

If you are looking for something to start out on I would recommend this. Specially if for a child, that way if they do not like or stop playing after a year you are out 100 bucks vs a few hundred.

Good violin for the price but not looking like the picture. The description of GV403 says matte finish, but it clearly is not. Sounds decent for a beginner. Overall a great value for someone who wants to try out the violin without spending a lot of money.

PERFECT. My son insisted on violin lessons. "Are you sure?" I asked. "Are you really sure?" "Yes" and "yes" and "yes" again. So I bought this violin and my son got a kick out of it. It comes in a beautiful set with all the accessories. A perfect beginners package. His teacher got a kick out of it, too, and said it was just fine to get started.

My daughter loves her new violin. The wooden tuning pegs slip, but I think it probably just needs some rosin to hold better. Otherwise and overall, very happy with this purchase.

I just started learning to play the violin. I had a relative who has played for years tune it for me and said it was a great violin for beginners. According to him, the produced sound is good, but not great and tuning wasn't as smooth as much higher quality violins, however for the price he was extremely surprised with the overall quality and everything that comes with it. Very nice case and extra strings were a plus.
