I just received this saxophone today and I must say, the sound quality exceeded my expectations. I just received this saxophone today and I must say, the sound quality exceeded my expectations. It's been 20 years since I last played in middle and high school, and this saxophone is perfect for someone looking to get back into playing without breaking the bank. Despite the package being a bit beat up from shipping, the saxophone inside the well-packed case arrived unharmed with everything as advertised.
While the included accessories are budget-friendly items, they are sufficient for beginners starting from scratch. I made the mistake of initially dismissing the synthetic reed that came with it, but it actually produces a full sound and might even be better than the cane reeds that often accompany saxophones. I recommend investing a bit more in a Yamaha 4C mouthpiece and some quality cane reeds (like size 2.0 or 2.5 for more experienced players, and 1.0 or 1.5 for beginners). Always test cane reeds before splurging on expensive synthetic options like Légère, which can cost $30 per reed.
Regarding the saxophone itself, I'm impressed by the quality craftsmanship, good pads for the price, and beautiful finish. The mouthpiece and neck fit perfectly, and none of the keys stick. Overall, I'm amazed by the value and quality offered by Glarry. While the sound may not be as warm as higher-end saxophones, it's more than adequate for beginners and intermediates. Would I recommend this product to others in these skill levels? Absolutely.
